Dinner wif my family

Once again, i am @ Orchard, without any specific aim. Well... maybe 1 significant one. My sisiter's birthday is coming. Went there to order birthday cake for her :)

Went to dinner @ East Coast with my parents, uncles, aunties, cousins and grandparents. Upon reaching there, went to the sea side to enjoy the smoothing breeze. Nothing beats the beach. It gives people a calm feeling... looking up @ the sky... aeroplanes flying past * reminds me of my ambition*...

Dinner is fabulous!!!! Crabs, Chicken, fish.... Wow!!! My stomach was bloated upon finishing the food. Yummy!

Final Fantasy @ SIW

Today marks the end of my course @ SIW. For those who dun understand the term, it means School of Infantry Weapons ( or what enlistees called it- soldiers in wonderland!). To a large extent, this is very true. Normally, after 6pm, the school will become "abandoned" and we, as enlistees have much freedom to roam around the school, exploring unexplored places and visiting specialists mess.

On thursday, me, KY, KS and QY played bridge for the very last time in our bunk in SIW. Lights out timing there is set @ 2359. However, since it is our very last night there, we ignored all the rules and regulations and played till our hearts content. We ended the game at 0040, before proceeding to rest. When we came back from the toilets, we had a "head-on" collision with our Sir. He did not say anything about our lights off timing. Phew!

Before we left SIW, we had a mini debrief and certificate presentation ceremony. I feel that i have benefited a lot from there. Upon receiving the certificate from the CO of SIW, i feel a sudden pride in me becoming the No. 1 gunner in ATGM platoon. Best trainee goes to QY ( a bridge- com member) and Best Commander goes to 2SG Woo. We loaded up the stores and head back to AQC.

Upon reaching back the camp, we unpacked our luggage and went for a platoon lunch @ 20SA canteen. platoon bonding... ... then booked out afterwards.

Went with KS to Plaza Singapura. What sia.. totally appalled by the way he buy stuffs. Impulse buyer? Bad? Not really, depending on situations.

P.s. Congrats to QY and 2SG Woo for their outstanding performances @ SIW.

An "ORD" kinda day...

I am supposed to be outfield today... however i am back in camp instead!! So happi..

Today's breakfast wasn't indented @ all. So our "wake- up " time was OTOT. Instead of waking up at the usual 0615, i woke up @ 0700. Woo- Hoo!!! Feel like ORD-ing soon.. The whole mornin's activity was cleaning of stores and Nothing else!!! our lunch was also not indented! I had my lunch @ 3+ today.. hahax...

Hmm.. today got nights out( my whole bunk booked out btw). Tomorrow, we are moving back to AMQ camp. Apprehensive. Really enjoyed my stay @ SIW-- the bunk, pple, lesson, time... fond memories will always remain.

Priceless.

p.s. To cHrIsTaBeL, yIrUi, cAiLiNg, XuEtInG, yUeXiN, xInWeI & all my frenz who are having exams.. good luck, push on, overcome! i will always be there to give you support.

"Comical" Day

This morning, i cycled to the library ( not to mug of course, since there is absolutely nothing to study), but to borrow some comics. Hmm... close frens of mine will definately wonder what the hell am i doing, borrowing comics... the answer is simple: drawing comic characters is my newly found interest. No particular reason to why, just feel like drawing stuff...

Spent the whole afternoon figuring how to draw them... The eyes are sort of ok ( i think) but the hair CMI. Totally CMI. i can't seemed to be able to draw nice hairs ( unless it is very simple)

Hmm... did some reflections on myself also today. I felt that i am too talkative that i can be very "fan" @ times. I talk too much rubbish ( i juz cannot stand silence.. fell that it is too quiet). Ask some frens of mine.. quite glad they do not feel that. Thanks man!!!

Booking in tonite... field camp next week ( mon, tues, wed).. HaiZ... lets see how it goes...

A Review of Movie: fLiGhT pLaN

First and foremost, i would say that fLiGhT pLaN is an atypical flightshow. Noramally, flight shows are about Hostage attacks ( e.g. Turbulence 1,2,&3) or about rescueing important characters and figures (e.g. Airforce 1) or funny movies (e.g. Airplane sequel 1&2). All these storylines are rather predictable (to some extent), as in you can predict whats going to happen next.

As for flightplan, i would say generally that it is a rather special movie, given the fact that it deviates from the normal mundane storyline.

CRITIC: PORTRAYS FLIGHT ATTENDANTS AS " THE BAD GUYS"

Flight Attendents are the pillars of an aircraft. Without the existence of the flight crew, the whole flight journey will not be smooth sailing. Just imagine, upon entering an airplane, there is NO SERVICE, no one to take care of your needs, serve your meals or provide neccessary assistance to passengers. NO SERVICE @ ALL... can you imagine * shudder*.

Pilots are important too but they are not the focus in this time * sorry*

Let me just briefly introduce the job scope of a flight attendant:

(i)BEFORE TAKE OFF:
They need to check in the plane 3 hours before take off to prepare the cabin. Actions include the checking for litter, food and the overall cabin ambience.

(ii)BOARDING:
Upon the checking of the passengers, they will offer assistance to passengers who needs help with their seats or lugguages. Before take off, they are also to ensure that all passengers' seatbelts are securely fastened, all seats put to upright position, all overhead compartments are closed and the galley free of loose items. After making sure of all these, they then can proceed to take their seats for take off.

(iii)TAKE OFF:
Normally, after 15 mins upon departure, beverages will be served. Peanuts and poker cards are also available upon request. Main meals will be served during the middle of the journey. They are also the Safety Specialist on board a commercial airline. Should there be a turbulence, due to air pockets or aircraft moving into storm clouds, they are to ensure that passengers return to their seats and securely fastened their seatbelts.

(iv)LANDING:
Upon landing, they will have to guide the paasengers out of the aircraft before de- boarding the plane themselves.

Flight Attendents should always remember that every action counts. Rude gestures to passengers will reflect badly on themselves as well as the airline they serve. Just a guide.. a flight attendent should be friendly, greet with a smile, show that they CARE, and making the trip on board as pleasant as possible for the passengers. If they are able to do that, they have succeeded in their job!!

fLiGhT pLaN is a boring show, i would say for those who do not luve flight shows. For me, i think is realtively ok *not up to my standard sadly*

Another day...

This afternoon, at about 2+ pm, me and QY went to KS grandfather's wake. KS seemed fine le
*relieved*... From there, i met with Bingyi, and together me Qy and Bingyi went to Orchard.

Wanted to watch the movie: Flightplan ( a movie heavily criticised i think). To my surprise, most of the seats @ cineleisure, GV Marina and Eng Wah Suntec were taken... ended up @ Suntec. HaiZ... quite disappointed @ the seating arrangement...

Hmm... let me add in a bit of stuff... before seating myself comfortably in the movie seat, went Taka Artfriend to do something sneaky... reason not available yet... Flopped there totally... went to search high and low for something... after struggling there for nearly 1hr +.. finally got something there.. thank god!!!

P.S. Luv Flight Shows!!

The SiBei Xiong 600m run...

Some pple may wonder whats the xiong-ness about the 600m run ( no kick ma)...

Try saying that when you have a 30kg load on your back!

We had a run with our dearest Missile today in camp. After running 600m, we need to take post ( i.e. set up the equipment) and shoot targets ( computerised ones). Upon starting, the weight really pulls me down le.

RUN RUN RUN....

@ the end point, as the missile carrier, i need to perform the basic 9 point check on the missile to ensure the workability. I was half shouting the points and gasping for air @ the same time.. i was too breathless to think properly... After that was quite ok.. hit 5/6 targets.

Played soccer today again.( this time with my legs aching). Now my legs hurts even more, but i feel like i am becoming more "Sporty", given the amount of sports i played last time.

Intended to go home after book out, but ended up @ city hall with QY. We went to SUNTEC and found this machine where you can get FinalFantasy(VII) figurines. we stayed there for quite a while cos QY was very interested. I was, i would say impressed by his enthusiasm for these figurines. *salute*.

P.s(1). Congrats to Shanker & QY for an excellent rundown :)
P.s(2). To KS. Don't be sad... i will be there if you need my assisitance.. take care bro!

Nights out AGAIN!

Never in my army life i had 3 nights out in a row. 3!!!!! Thats amazing.

Hmm.. instead of roaming around JP, me and 3 bridge com elites ( JX, KS, QY) went to Jurong East to hang around. For 4 years, JE has been my haunt ( guven my sec school RVHS was around the area), and i never find it uninteresting. However, when i visit it today, it was ABSOLUTELY BORING!!! The 4 of us ended up @ the newly renovated library, where are slacked for like approx 1.5hrs. My new interest of drawing made me borrowed some pic books to refer.

Arcade was normal la... juz that some games were not up to standard...

After that, we went to EAT!!! Never ever forget your stomach when dinner is horrible ( one of the rare times that the food @ SIW is comparable to AQC). Have Fish and chips and rice and ice milo (Shiok)

Ended up @ the ice skating area where there is a competition going on - ice hockey!!! * PRIDE*
It was very cool, watching the players competing with each other.

@ last, we still ended up @ PLC (SIW)...... haiZ...

A day @ JP

Hmm..today has nights out again. Since there is not much time to go home to slack, me, QY and JC went to JP to kill our time away.

Walk. Nothing interesting.

Ended up @ the cinema, where we watched the European Gigglo show. Since it is an M18 show, we are required to show our "age verification pass" upon entry. Therefore, no matter how reluctant i was, i was forced to present my 11B to the cinema attendant. The show was relaltively interesting & funny ( though short). Was laughing @ intervals @ the sypnosis. One shocking thing ( to me lah) was the fact that M18 shows actually shows some nudity!!! Clarification by my frens made me realised that NC16 shows also shows some nudity scenes @ times.

Went back to camp @ 2300... haiZ...

Special Focus: MILAN BRIDGE COMMITTEE 2005

Upon entering 2SIR... a legendary committee has emerged. Gathering forces from the earth, fire, wind and water, the BRIDGE committee [BC] is formed!

Advisor: Lee Keng Yin ( a formidable character, with immense bridge skills, able to change unfavourable situations, a person not to be trifled with)

BC 1st seat: Oh Jia Cai ( a character full of funny ideas, yet intelligent in his own ways)

BC 2nd seat: Tay Qin Yuan ( a friendly character who treats his frens with respect & blessed with good luck)

BC 3rd seat: Siew Kwok Siong ( a character who manupulates, normally he "kills" rather then "give", always tricks, yet smart in playing the game )

BC 4th seat: Wang Deguang ( a mild character with some unknown special abilities, normally cursed in the game but blessed with charmed luck @ times)

"Everything On"

This phrase, commonly heard in Army, depicts the scene where soldiers have to put on everything ( normally SBO, Field Pack and Rifle) and prepare themselves for the start of a route march. In MILAN platoon, everything on means carrying weights approx 25kg (instead of the normal fieldpack 9kg). juz imagine the weight... haiZ

Hmm.. i am the front scout of the route march today. Disadvantage of being one is that i am detached from my frens therefore the urge of pushing on decreases. Advantage would be that i reach the end pt early ( although cannot put the load down also) & no need for fear of catching up!

Everyone of my frenz made it through the march. GOOD WORK GUYS!!!!!

Today is basically a slack day after the route march.

Nights Out today!! Went home obviously:)

Book In Blues...

HaiZ.. monday blues (used to be used for schools... now is for army)
Can do nothing now except to patiently wait for the next book out. Today, we had sports and games in the morning. Played street soccer with my platoon mates. Hmm.. kinda fresh given the fact that i had not played soccer like for months * my soccer skills sux btw*. I used to kick "air" instead of the ball but it improved already. I used not to chiong for anyball for fear of injury but all this is not apparent in today's game. Still, i would say my soccer skills isn't that good.

Finally, get to talk to her again.. we hadn't like contact each other since april this year. Feel happy when we communicate to each other via msn/ sms. A feeling of pure happiness that cannot be described in words.

To Ms Wan of RVHS: Hope you get well soon!!
To Ms Lim of HCJC: You rox! When will you get married? haha.. received insider's news that you are attached.

Good nite people!!
Cheers pple!!

* Special Ed --- Nurture Or Fly? *

Since young, people have been asking: Wad do you wan to be when u grow up? Ambitions change, however @19, one should already have something in mind ( at least a rough idea)...

A teacher is a career i wanted to strive for since young. I love to mark papers, teach students and set questions. For an unknown reason, i just love to do all these things. Thats why upon finishing my A levels, i applied for relief teaching. Good experience!!. After receiving my A levels results, i applied for MOE teaching award. Instead i was given the MOE teaching scholarship instead! Exhilarated really. A step towards my teaching Career!

Change Change Change...

After enlisting into army (2005) and going to Hk in Dec 2004, interest in Teaching dropped. A little @ first but now it dropped drastically!! I have lost interest in teaching. Will i find it back?

Since young, i have a love for flying. To many people, the time spent on the aeroplane is boring ( the landing esp, it hurts the ears). To me is totally different. Whenever i am sad, the only place that can cheer me up is the Airport. I just love going to the airport.. seeing people go abroad, planes taking off...

I want to be a flight attendent ( working for SIA-- int't airline!!) next time. When i enter Uni, i will attempt to sign up for Singapore Youth Flying Club, where i can fly a small plane ( if i get accepted). I sat a few airlines before.. Msia Airlines, BA, QF, Silk Air, SQ.. the one that have an impact on me is SQ!! I am a service person ( social kinda person). By becoming a flight attendent, i can FLY!!! Someone may ask.. when u go holiday, you can fly too! For me, by becoming a part of SIA is something to be proud of! I am sure i can do well there since i enjoy the job and my passion for it.

I still have 1 yr + to think and ponder about it. Anything is still unconfirmed.. It either or lol...

"Full"- filling day!!!

Hm.. Today went to River Valley open house @ farrer road. Met with some teachers( Ms Wan is sick for 1 month!!). Saw some familiar faces too. RV is not going to return to our old campus ( where fond memories linger). Instead, she is moving to SAJC's present location next year and in 2008, to boon lay where RV Integrated Programme (RVIP) started.

In the afternoon, i went out with my family to do a bit of shopping ( since i have nothing to do @ home anyway). Cousin Ying Ying, went to a bridal shop to check out the prices ( btw she is getting married NEXT YEAR * hopefully after ATEC* ) Went Marina Sq then Parco Bugis. My sis is also shopping for a present for her fren.

@ the evening, i met up with my si-dangs ( 1 bimbo, 1 himbo and 1 sex-pot) for dinner @ Hotel Miramar. Eat/ Drink and more eating and drinking!!! Price there is reasonable given that it is a HOTEL! During dinner, i made an interesting discovery: One of my ex-platoon mates (now in OCS) is actually my si-dang's classmates!!! haha.. so qiao. We then took a slow walk to Great World City (original intend was to was a movie), we ended up @ Mac where we talk about our end -of-year trip to Msia. However, the plan was changed to a Overnight stay @ CBell's House. Staying over Christmas!!!

Went home after that.. snooze.. but before gg to dreamland, have a conversation with my pal over the phone. Did not know how long we talk (ear gets tired after i hung up). Ask him for a lot of favours. * through this blog wanna thank him for his help rendered* Xie Xie Bro!

Good Nite Guys ( to my fam, si-dangs, my pal and not forgetting myself)

Food For Thought...

Disappointing

Today started off well ( having only stimulator training in the morning...) Have a feeling that the MIlan Action thingy is cancelled or something. The sad thing came in in the afternoon... Not the Milan thingy but about my future as an ATGM gunner. Initially, i thought that the ist gunner would become medic trained.. Today, from my Sir, he told me that the 2nd gunner is medic trained instead! Totally shocked beyond imagination!! My aiming sux and my choice of being the ist gunner is eliminated.. leaving only the 2nd gunner left for me to take.. Feeling very heavy today.. dunno wad to do ( aniway there is nothing i can do... ). Take things light man Jonathan!

* to comfort myself: the 1st gunner need to carry uneven weight!! )

Tomorrow is my SPIKE test. Wadeva la... no mood to study le...

Good nite ppl!!!

Spike VS Milan

I am writing this message in Specialist Mess. ( doesn't that make me a specialist?) Anyway today we started our lesson on Spike -- a 3rd generation of Missile. We learnt MILAN last week ( inclusive of written test and stuff). hmm...thought all my worries ended. To my HORROR... Spike has wriiten and technical handling test as well! What sia.. * 2 written test/ 1 TSR)

Spike definately has more advantages then MILAN ( besides the weight obviously ).. hmm, the operation proceduer is easier and the drills are generally easier too

Looking forward to tomorrow.. NIGHTS OUT!

Enjoy Spec mess guys!

Cineleisure

Went out with my JC frens to cine todae for a short gathering... Hmm a short intro to them:1 is OCT, 1 is Spec @ Commandos, 1 RP, 1 Clerk, and 1 Milan op.. we ate some snacks i.e. waffles wif ice cream (not bad).. then went to the arcade to race. I fared quite well ( given my skills in Driving). Went back home to slack and prepare for BOOK IN. *sob* Hope next week pass ASAP. looking forward to next week's book out!

Children's Day Activity

Yesterdae i went to Orchard with my cousin to shop for a present for a fren. Surprisingly i saw 2 of my army frens, 1 outside Heeren (MH), 1 inside Popular (QY). i started to wonder whether army ppl, when booked out only goes to town.

Nothin interesting happen that day...

Went to rent Ms Congeniality 2 to watch. Luv the rental shop auntie who gave to a discount of $1. Instead of $3, she charged me $2. Excellant movie but i still prefer the 1st one (where Sandra says "WoRlD pEaCe").

Wan An to everyone!
