A History repeats itself

Woocutter's Trail: A name feared by many, especially the MILAN platoon. We walked through it once during one of our outfields. It was a nightmare. Yesterday, we walked through it again. Though it is much better ( due to the increased rest time and better pacing ), all of us were still had bad feelings about it. I was injured during my walk. haiZ.. sprained my ankle.. tink my ankle like very prone to sprain. Bad.

This weekend burn. Anyway, looking forward towards sunday book out!!!

Weekend-- must cherish!

Everything looks misty and bleak. Next week i will be confined over the weekend due to Coy live firing. We will be there to help out, therefore burning my sat away. Sian. Monday have Woodcutter's Trail. Disaster, dunno how i am going to survive that. Then got many pple from my coy got 7 extra cos HQ check rifle. Dunno wads my chances of escaping.

Went out with BY and Zhiqi today. Sang K- box together. This is sort of a last minute decision by the 3 of us. Mavis is suppose to join us. But she having her art paper on monday and she needs to prepare for it, therefore she cannot make it. i would say that BY and Zhiqi make a good pair in singing duets. excellant singing by Zhiqi. She can "zhuan yin". cool!

In the afternoon, went out with QY, KS, Kheng to walk walk. HaiZ... Went to Topman- kino ( found some comics that are nice)-PS. Looking forward to Christmas Sale :) I read my first chinese comic : Sheng Dou Shi. Hahax... newly found interest!!! not bad actually, jus that i read a bit slower than average speed. but given my deteriorated chinese, haha, it is still quite an achievement i think.

Rush home just in time to return my VCD to the auntie.

Wonder how i can pass my next week.

I almost go crazy

First and foremost, i did not expect to go to medic course. Only 6 of my platoon mates are selected to go. However, it ended up with my whole platoon going for the course. Hahax..

During the first day, we had dry theory lessons. To me, i still think that it is interesting. @ least more interesting than signal course. The real thing came today.

Disaster. Total destruction. Intravenous Innoculation or I/V for short. For those who do not understand the term, it simply means putting a drip on a casualty/ patient. Wa Lao.. it is totally "cruel", although the ultimate purpose is to save the lives of others- a very wei-da thingy.

First, we need to prime the solution/ drip- i.e. to get rid of the bubbles. Next come the difficult part--- to inject the "needle-thingy" into the vein of the my buddy. Then insert the drip, secure it and thats that.

The 1st barrier, is to overcome the fear of injecting the needle into my buddy's ( Kheng) arm. how to "ren xin xia shou".. i mustered my courage, determined for one good I/V, and pierce it into the skin of Kheng. Ouch! I silently scream lo.. it was so hard to continue. The medic then carefully guided me through the whole thing. Thank god i PASSED on my 1st attempt. Next is my turn to be I/V-ed my Kheng. The pain was disgusting, almost unbearable. I knew that if i shout, Kheng will freak out. So i convereted my shouting into singing. About 8mins after, the whole process stopped. Kheng also passed on his 1st attempt. Thank god!

This is totally mental. I almost "beng-kui". I also saw many of my frens freaking out. My team mates Rong and Keat, as well as JX freaked out totally. Never in my 3 years of knowing JX did i saw him break down. I was appalled beyond anything. My good pal KS succeeded on his virgin attempt. Congrats!

I will NEVER forget this experience. Medic course is Xiong. I/V-ly xiong. Hahax...

P.s. Wei-ge-- u are VERY brave. Salute.
Kheng-- Happi Birthdae!!!

Harry Potter and the GOF

Hahax.. after a VERY XIONG day in camp, i decided to reward myself with 2 things. one: get home in a taxi, sitting comfortably inside the aircon vehicle while chatting with frens and listening my diskman. two: watch HP & the GOF, a movie i waited for 1.5 years since the 3rd HP series was aired.

Watched with BY @ 2140 ai Tiong Bahru Plaza (everywhere else is filled- hermione in 3rd movie). Hmm.. the overall impression i got from the movie was that it was too compressed. However, i would give the rating a 7/10 for the cast and effects. Many scenes from the book was omitted. Some examples are the fetching of Harry from the Dursleys, Quidditch World Cup match, Dobby the house elf, anticipation of students from Beauxbaton and Drumstrang, scenes in between tasks, details of the 3rd tasks etc.

Characters have grown of course. Hermione, played by Emma, become stunningly beautiful. Ginny became prettier. The introduction of Fleur and Cho added some "spice" to the movie. I was impressed by Fleur's mannerism and the wasy she presented herself- poised and ladylike. Cho was slightly disappointing. She appeared in quite many scenes in the book, but fot the movie, her appearance is minimal. The characters portrayed was ok. Jus that i felt Dumbledore did not appear to be as wise as he is portrayed, Hermione, not as muggish but too emotional. Harry, the character was acted well, in my opinion, by Radcliffe.

I would say, for a movie i anticipated for 1.5 years, it is a bit disappointing. If the movie if longer (showing more scenes in the book), it would definately be lots better :) But overall, i still feel that it is a good movie given the increased experience of the cast and that special effects shown.

My $9.50 did not go to waste.

Light VS Darkness

He is a PIG. Not a normal one, but one with a demonic nature.
Love my PT Angel, but i don't think he can sustain for long. I feel his halo weakening gradually.

Nothing can be done.
Nothing.

Late

Late. I was supposed to meet WJ @ cine to sing K box @ 11am. I was awoken by his message at 10.45am. RUSH. That stupid bus 111 came late and Orchard Road was totally jammed. haiZ...

Realised my singing skills has deteriorated. Bad. Quite happy though that i managed to sing most of my songs quite nicely, though the first few was off- tune.

Met BY later, and we went BK for snack.

Went TCC for a sip before heading home.

P.s. MochaVilla:
Captivating layers of chocolate, coffee and milk topped with a luscious scoop of vanilla ice- cream and dusted with cinnamon powder.

Nothing can be compared to this!

Outfield: a term that most soldiers feared and dread. For amature soldiers, it would definately mean the 7 days field camp. hahax... for us, the MILAN Platoon, this is one particular field camp we will NEVER forget.

A word: XIONG!

On our movement day, we carry our full battle load ( Comd: 1 mira, 1 missile, No 1 Operator: Firing post, tripod, No 2 operator: 2 missiles) and bash through the Wood Cutter's Trail. This is the process to get to out first deploymeny ground. The route is totally DISASTROUS. Uneven terrain, thick vegetation, Obstacles e.g. tree trunks, muddy water, totally dark drains, using ropes to get to a high point. Initially, i was relatively fine with the weight. My positive thoughts was telling me that it is actually quite fun to bash through forest route.

WRONG.

After travelling for like 7km or so, my body started to tire out and i can start to feel the uneven weight of the firing post. Shit. My sergeant, who was sick on that day, went ahead to participate in the march. However, given his body condition, he cannot sustain the whole journey. He fell and fall out from the march. I was shocked. My partner, keat was also in a very bad condition. As for me, i started to feel that i could not concentrate anymore. I was swaying from side to side. Lucky for me, my good pal KS gave me a helping hand (also the 2nd Sergeant) and i managed to endure my way through. Thanks all.

When we reach our first resting area, i thought helmets can be off.. A LOAD OF RUBBISH!!! 1/3 alert.

Stupid.

First deployment ground was actually the first resting area. As the No.1 gunner, i need to take over the job of my section comd since he fell out of the march. Being totally new to the idea of a commander, the job was daunting, yet challenging and fulfilling. Every little details appears to be different from the view of a commander and a No.1 gunner. hahax.

Our 2nd mission was supposed to be on Jeep. However, last minute changes by higher authorities made it a dismounted role again. Shit. Once again, we need to march about 5km. That makes a grand total of 17km march. haiz. I was the team commander, Rong became the No 1 gunner, and Keat was the No. 2 gunner. I must really praise Rong for his effort. Thanks Rong!

As for the 3rd mission, finally it was mounted role. ON JEEP!!! To my surprise, i mwas made the Vehicle Commander, since i was the team 2 commander. Hahax.. i must really say that it was a very good experience for me. As a vehicle commander, i need to lead my team, give instructions to them etc. Hmm.. something new. However, the mission was not really a success, not saying that it was our fault, cos i don't think that it is ours, it ws very funny.

On our last day, we were all very happy. Our 2i/c asked us to re camo our vehicle. We did it with no grudges and spirits ws relatively high that day. We waited for about 2+ hours before moving off to coy line. Yippy!

When we reach our bunks, washed up, we realised that our body is "pian ti lin shang". Sand fly bites, Mosquito bites, rashes, muscle aches, back injuries.. everything lo... haiZ. Out of my platoon 15 did not really completely made it. Only 1 made it. haiZ.. BUT... good job guys for enduring together!

After clearing out stores, we finally get to rest. Officer's Mess!!! Finally- human food. Hahax.

Will NEVER forget this outfield experience that is both PHYSICALLY TIRING and REWARDING @ the same time.

Book out today. Went out with QY, KS, Lunny, and Warren to town. Went Far East, then HMV, then Cine. Oh.. i played Capcom VS Street Fighter. I got to the last level!! Nothin like this ever happen to me before. hahax.. very happi!!!

hmm.. lets see how the week end goes..

Enjoy :)

p.s. Thank you Sir and my platoon mates esp KS, Rong, Keat who helped me along the way.

Finally...

After much searching for my sis birthday present, I found the present at LAST!! Her birthday is on 02 Nov.. hmm a belated b'dae present. Nevertheless, i would say that this present is finally given to her: HAPPI BELATED BIRTHDAE 2 U!!!

In a solitude of the sea,
Deep from human vanity,
And the pride of life that planned her, stilly couches she

Over the mirrors meant
To glass the opulent
The sea- worm crawls- grotesque, slimed, dumb, indifferent

Dim moon- eyed fish near
Gaze at the glided gear
And query:" What does this vaingloriousness down here?"

Bowling Techniques

SAFRA @ Mt Faber

Went bowling with my uncle, aunty, my sis & 2 cousins. Hmm.. haven been bowling for
months, ever since my enlistment into the National Service. Usually I would use 8 pound ball
*hahax because it is lighter* and my ball will go straight instead of into the "drain". however, when I 'bowled' my first ball, i was stopped by my uncle. He told me that my technique of releasing the ball was TOTALLY wrong. The way i release the ball was opposite to the normal way that bowlers release theirs.

My lesson on Bowling started. The way of holding the ball and swinging the ball was very important. When holding the ball and walking towards the lane, it is important to start aiming @ the arrows on the lane ( not the pins/ seeing the ball when release). The number of steps taken from the initial starting point to the point of release ( indicated by the number of dots ) is of some importance also. Normally, for right handers, our left leg would be out when we release the ball. Our right leg will be behind to support and give stability to the whole posture. Hmm.. for me, i took 3 steps before releasing the ball. It is also vital that when the ball leaves our hands, allow the ball to travel due to momentum of the swing and not the force from your hands.Hands (joints) must be kept locked. When we release the ball, it is important to keep our body low ( by kneeling down) so that the ball will slide along the lane and not dropped onto the lane.

58- 60- 70

That evening, me and BY went to Suntec * in hope of meeting Fish Leong*. She will be @ Suntec at 6pm. We reached there @ 7.15pm. Nothing. Disappointed, we went around city hall to take photos since BY brought his digicam. Hmm.. Singapore's night view is relatively nice *dismal compared to HK ones*. We walked all the way from suntec to esplanade to merlion park to raffles city MRT, before heading home :)

A total WASTE of time

Shit. Have to wake up @ 0545 today. It has been like a month of waking up @0615. A mere 30 mins makes a whole load of difference. Area cleaning... this phrase sounds unfamiliar to my ears. In SIW, area cleaning is not neccessary as cleaners employed outside will be there to help in clearing of the place e.g. toilets.

Oh.. btw, i booked in YESTERDAY for a supposingly Batallion run. For those who do not understand the meanig of Batallion-- it comprises of 4 companies each about 80 ppl. However, todays pathetic 5km run comprises mostly soldiers from SP Coy. Privates from Alpha, Bravo, Charlie booked out cos they had live firing the previous night. I would say that the run has changed from a Batallion to a Company. Even the CO wasn't around. Sad.

The run lasted for like 30 mins. We need to book in the day before just to ensure that we have 7hrs of sleep and water paraded before the run. Allow me to ask a question: If you have a run the next day, what help does drinking water the day before does except to fill up your bladder and causes you to go to the toilet in the middle of the night?

Hahax... wadeva la.. today is the start of my 1 week break before my Chiong Sua season starts. Looking forward to a fun week ahead!

Cheers!

To my frens: eNjOy YoUrSeLf PpL!!
